Objectives

Simulizi Levels Up seeks to achieve the following objectives:

  • Digital Literacy: Provide young people in Nairobi's informal settlements with critical digital literacy skills necessary for navigating the digital world.
  • Social Cohesion: Foster a sense of community and belonging among youth, promoting diversity and inclusivity within their neighborhoods.
  • Empowerment: Empower youth to become responsible digital citizens capable of engaging constructively in democratic processes and civic activities.

Approach

The initiative will leverage Godot Games for interactive simulations and Grease Pencil for engaging comics and animations to deliver educational content. The approach includes:

  • Storyline Simulation: Develop interactive scenarios using Godot Games to simulate real-life digital dilemmas, encouraging youth to make informed decisions and practice responsible online behavior.
  • Grease Pencil Comics: Create visually appealing comics and animations using Grease Pencil to communicate complex concepts such as digital citizenship, online safety, and critical thinking.
  • Community Workshops: Conduct workshops within informal settlements to facilitate discussions on digital literacy, encourage peer learning, and strengthen social bonds among participants.
